Family Life Theatre strives to educate and create awareness of various social issues through our educational theatre program. We have 31 educational plays in our repertoire that include subjects like: substance abuse, wife abuse, suicide, H.I.V / A.I.D.S, sexual abuse, fetal alcohol effects, Alzheimer Disease, elder abuse, incest, child abuse, gambling addictions, alcohol liability, palliative care, eating disorders, bullying, etc.

The format of our presentations begins by performing one of the 30-minute dramas. Following each performance, the audience has the opportunity to dialogue with a panel of volunteer experts on the issue being addressed. This leads to a sharing of sometimes divergent points of view, which can bring about a greater understanding and awareness of the topic, and knowledge of how and where to access assistance in the community.

Our goal, through in-depth research, is to continue to develop and produce dramatic presentations that will address these social issues in a unique and highly interesting manner and will ultimately be available to any interested community in Ontario, both through live presentations and on video. This is especially important for isolated and remote communities where video education is becoming more popular. We continually strive to develop high quality dramatic presentations that can be used as an educational and awareness tool.
